We are incredibly proud and excited to announce that we’ve been selected as a recipient of a $9,000 grant from the Whole Cities Foundation as part of their 2024-2025 Community First Grants Program! This support empowers us to continue our mission of improving access to fresh, healthy food for underserved families and communities.
About the Whole Cities Foundation
The Whole Cities Foundation is a nonprofit organization created by Whole Foods Market to deepen its commitment to community well-being. Established a decade ago in Detroit, the foundation’s roots lie in the community-focused approach Whole Foods Market adopted before opening its first Detroit-area store. Recognizing the importance of listening and engaging with residents, Whole Foods Market worked to understand the unique needs and desires of the community.
This collaborative model became the foundation for the Whole Cities Foundation, which works to support grassroots leaders, strengthen local partnerships, and increase access to healthy, nutritious food. Their efforts embody the Whole Foods Market Core Value: “We care for our communities and environment.”
Community First Grants Program
The Community First Grants Program, now in its eighth year, is a cornerstone of Whole Cities Foundation’s work. Each year, the program provides funding to community-led nonprofits across the country that are addressing barriers to healthy food access. This year, they’ve awarded grants to 71 organizations, including Food Assistance Match, underscoring their commitment to impactful, local solutions.
FAM is honored to be among the grant recipients, and we are excited to apply this funding toward our efforts to support families and individuals in need.
